Stand-Your-Ground Passes Print Hearing!

Your efforts have paid off!

After numerous phone calls and emails for the House State Affairs Committee to move Stand-Your-Ground to a full hearing, they heard your voice, and the bill will now be sent forward for a full, public hearing.

We want to thank Gun Owners of America for working with us to reach Idahoans all across the state to take action for Stand-Your-Ground in Idaho!

Without your help, the bill, now known as House Bill 444, would never would have been introduced.

Our work is far from over though, and we’ll need your help once again — more on that in a second.

Yesterday marked the first time a “Stand-Your-Ground” law has been seriously considered in Idaho.

The House State Affairs Committee voted 14-1 to “introduce” the bill and give it a bill number, H.B. 444.

The lone dissenting vote came from Rep. Elaine Smith (D-Pocatello.)

Rep. Christy Zito, the bill’s sponsor, and our attorney, Alexandria Kincaid, did a tremendous job presenting and defending the legislation.

Mrs. Kincaid was asked a deluge of questions for nearly one hour yesterday!

Finally, the committee exhausted all questions and decided to vote and move the bill forward.

It is safe to say that the battle for Stand-Your-Ground in Idaho is well underway.

The media ran numerous articles yesterday about the introduction of Stand-Your-Ground in Idaho.

However, expect the headlines to get much less friendly in the weeks to come.

No doubt the main stream media will do everything they can to lie and distort the facts about Stand-Your-Ground law, just as they tried to do in 2016 with Constitutional Carry.

And we have no doubt that Bloomberg and his minions are assembling to fight against this monumental bill.

You see, this isn’t just “another gun bill.”

This bill will make Idaho one of the best states in the country when it comes to protecting citizens in self-defense situations.

It may even make our self-defense laws the strongest in the country!

What does the Idaho Second Amendment Alliance Stand-Your-Ground bill do?

>>> Face no so-called “duty to retreat.” Under Idaho law, this isn’t a requirement. However, a prosecutor is free to argue you could have avoided a dicey situation by retreating, and a jury could be persuaded to agree.

The truth is, in a situation where your life is on the line, the LAST thing you want to be thinking about is what some anti-gun judge or prosecutor might say;

>>> Receive criminal immunity from anti-gun prosecutors. In other words, no more anti-gun prosecutors trying to make an example of you — or taking a case to court to make a political statement;

>>> Gain presumption of innocence. That means that when a thug breaks into your home, he isn’t given the benefit of the doubt when you shoot him — you are innocent until proven guilty.

Idahoans across the country have signed thousands of petitions in support of Stand-Your-Ground in Idaho, and it’s time for the legislature to pass it into law!

But that won’t happen without your continued activism.

The phone calls and emails you sent last week were absolutely critical to the committee moving this bill forward.

But our work is far from over.

In the coming days we’ll be asking you once again to rise up and make your voices heard.

We’ll begin preparations for a public hearing on H.B. 444 which we’ll need you to attend, and testify at.

For now, enjoy this victory and help us prepare for the next stage of this battle.

How can you help us increase our chances of victory?

Well, to be honest, we had to expend a lot of political capital just to get the bill to this point.

Unfortunately, protecting gun rights costs precious resources.

But Idaho’s gun owners have always stepped up big when we needed them the most.

We are asking you to dig deep, and do what you can to help us mobilize even more gun owners.

We’ll also need you to help us prepare for what is sure to be the biggest battle yet — the public hearing!

So, if you can donate $500 as some are doing, or $250 as others are doing, we would greatly appreciate it.

If that is simply too much right now, then please consider a smaller donation of $100, $50, or $25 today to help with our mobilization efforts, and our preparations for the public hearing.

And while we are waiting for the date of the public hearing, be sure to follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with breaking news and information on your gun rights!

Thank you again for all your hard work.

You are what makes this organization run as effectively as it does.

Get ready, the real fight has now begun!

For Freedom,

Seth Rosquist
Chairman of the Board
Idaho Second Amendment Alliance

The first major hurdle for better self-defense laws in Idaho has been cleared!

The House State Affairs Committee voted yesterday (14-1) to send our Stand-Your-Ground bill (H.B. 444) to a full public hearing!

That is all thanks to your dedicated efforts with emails, phone calls, and donations.

In fact, as we prepare for the next stage of this fight, we need to replenish our resources as quickly as possible.

If you are able to dig deep and donate $500 or $250 are some people are doing, that’s fantastic.

However, if that’s simply too much right now, then a smaller donation of $100, $50, or $25 is also extremely helpful.

No matter what, please know that we appreciate everything that you do to help us move gun rights forward in Idaho, donations or not!

Thank you, and stay tuned for our next call to action.
