The legislative session is moving very quickly and we have an important update you need to read right away.
With politicians looking to get out of the capitol and onto the campaign trail, they’re hoping you and I give up the fight to protect the 2nd Amendment.
That’s not happening!
In fact, we are anticipating a ‘print hearing’ (no public comments at this hearing) on two pro-2nd Amendment bills on Tuesday, and we are working with pro-2nd Amendment champions Sen. Christy Zito (R-Hammett) and Rep. Priscilla Giddings (R-White Bird) to get them passed!
We’ll touch on those in just a moment.
The Idaho legislative redistricting lines have been redrawn and none of the current legislative districts looks the same. This reality is pushing legislators to try to leave the capitol as quickly as possible so they can begin campaigning for the May primary.
The weak-kneed RINOs in the capitol, who don’t really support the 2nd Amendment, always hope to pass the biggest “do nothing” gun bill they can so they can put a feather in their cap for election night.
That’s why the ISAA has been working hard on pushing two major pieces of PRO-GUN legislation that are badly needed in Idaho!
<<< HELP WIN THIS FIGHT! >>>
First, we are working hard to bring a long-awaiting Stand-Your-Ground bill forward. Idaho is missing “criminal immunity” from our Stand-Your-Ground law and that’s the crucial element that helps prevent Kyle Rittenhouse-style political prosecutions.
The very liberal Washington state already has criminal immunity in place, and a guarantee that if youilty,” you will be awarded attorney’s fees by the state. Idaho has no such provision in our law. are found “not gu
With this effort to finalize our Stand-Your-Ground law, we know that the prosecutors, judges, and more are going to come out of the woodwork to attack our efforts.
They don’t want to be held accountable for putting a gun owner behind bars who shouldn’t be, and that’s why we know the gun grabbers, along with government bureaucrats will be coming for us on this critical piece of legislation.
Second, we are working to make our firearm preemption law much stronger!
For those unfamiliar with the concept of firearm preemption, the law prevents local cities and counties from enacting their own forms of gun control. If local governments were able to create their own forms of gun control, it would create a patchwork of firearm laws across the state.
Unfortunately, cities like Sandpoint are deliberately violating the law.
While the ISAA and Second Amendment Foundation are suing the city for violating the law, ultimately, we need the law to be changed. And that’s what we are working towards this year as well.

Our case is currently before the Idaho Supreme Court, but we can get the law changed much sooner with a simple fix to the law and help prevent more liberal cities from following Sandpoint’s method of disarming Idahoans.
In the case of Sandpoint, the city “leased” a public park, where firearms are allowed, to a non-profit for several weeks. That non-profit then banned firearms in a public park!
Giddings and Zito’s bill would ensure the law was even more clear that if a city is going to permit or lease public property to a private person/organization, they must follow our laws as well.
Seems simple enough, but as those who have followed this fight for a long time know, there is no easy victory here.
It’s going take a lot of pressure from gun owners to push these bills through. Once the print hearing is over, that’s when we’ll be asking you to take immediate action to help keep them going.

For now, if you wish to attend the hearing on Monday, February 22, you can do so on the Garden Level (bottom floor) of the capitol on the House side. The meeting is anticipated to start at 9 a.m. MST in the State Affairs Committee hearing room.
There isn’t much time left in the session and that’s why we need you to help keep this fight going.
If you’ve already joined as a member of ISAA, please consider a generous donation today to help us take the fight for the 2nd Amendment to the capitol in Boise and push Stand-Your-Ground and Firearm Preemption into law!
This is our time and the time is now to keep this fight going!

Idaho Second Amendment Alliance
P.S. We are working hard with Sen. Christy Zito and Rep. Priscilla Giddings to push solid pro-2nd Amendment legislation into law.
This year we are working to get Idaho’s Stand-Your-Ground finalized and get our Firearm Preemption law upgraded.
None of that can happen without your help. So, as we prepare for the first hearing on Tuesday (see details above) we need to increase the number of Idahoans who hear these crucial messages.
